Our Commitment to Sustainability
Water and Cooling
Data Holdings uses a closed-loop glycol cooling system that requires no municipal water for data center cooling. Unlike traditional evaporative cooling systems, our infrastructure continuously recirculates coolant rather than consuming water during normal operation.
Wisconsin’s climate also allows us to reduce mechanical cooling demand for much of the year. When outdoor temperatures are low enough, our economization system uses those conditions to cool the glycol loop without introducing outside air into the data hall. This approach improves efficiency while maintaining the environmental control, filtration, and reliability required for mission-critical infrastructure.
Energy and Infrastructure
Our facility is designed to deliver enterprise-grade reliability while minimizing unnecessary energy consumption. Data Holdings operates at a power usage effectiveness of approximately 1.28, reflecting an efficient balance between the energy used by customer equipment and the infrastructure supporting it.
Customers may also elect a 100% renewable electricity option for their hosted environments. On-site solar generation supports Data Holdings’ internal infrastructure and cloud operations, while efficient power distribution, active-active electrical design, and right-sized capacity planning help reduce wasted energy without compromising resilience.
Sustainable Facility Design
Sustainability at Data Holdings extends beyond cooling and power. Our LEED Gold-certified facility incorporates long-life building materials, permeable pavement, electric vehicle charging, responsible e-waste practices, and infrastructure designed for durability rather than frequent replacement.
The result is a data center built to support long-term growth while reducing its impact on water, energy, and the surrounding community. We believe critical infrastructure should serve today’s customers without creating unnecessary burdens for the generations that follow.
